James Damiano
Soccer Trainer
Jimmy Damiano brings a lifetime of soccer experience to this summer program, having excelled as a player at every level of the game. A standout at Belleville High School, Damiano continued his career at St. Peter’s College before competing at the semipro level with the prestigious Kearny Scots-American Club and the New Jersey Stallions of the United States Interregional Soccer League—the forerunner to today’s MLS.
After his playing career, Damiano transitioned into coaching, returning to his alma mater, Belleville High School, as a head coach. Under his leadership, the program flourished, earning conference championships and competing at the highest levels of high school soccer in New Jersey. Known for his tactical knowledge, player development skills, and passion for the game, Damiano has dedicated himself to mentoring young athletes, both on and off the field.
Soccer runs deep in the Damiano family. His sons were both All-State players at Wall High School , and his niece, Addison Halpern, was the top high school player in the country in 2024. She is currently a freshman at the University of Virginia and a member of the U20 U.S. National Team.
Now a Special Education teacher at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Clifton, NJ, Damiano continues to bring his love for the sport into the classroom and beyond. With deep roots in the game and a commitment to helping players reach their full potential, he is excited to share his expertise with the next generation of soccer players.
